Evie is Australia's largest electric vehicle fast-charging network.
As Senior UX/UI Designer I was responsible for the design of the Evie App, where users can find a charger, initiate and pay for a charge of their electric vehicle.
Users of the Evie App range from electric vehicle newcomers to professional rideshare drivers and as such it is designed to prioritise a reliable, fast and simple service. Contextual help prompts are provided throughout the user journey in plain language providing all users with enough information to make informed charging choices.
My role at Evie included conducting regular customer testing in the form of interviews, surveys and unmoderated tests. Deriving insights and making recommendations on the most appropriate design optimisations.
I also created and maintained the Evie App design system ensuring consistency in our visual representation across the network.
Tank is an anti-burnout app designed to help users reclaim time to rest, recover and better themselves. More than a scheduling app, Tank focuses on setting an Intention for the user (such as a new skill, hobby or time for self-care) and surfacing a clear view of where hours are really being spent during the week.
Through interactive visualisation, users are encouraged to complete their Intention and be mindful of not over-scheduling their time. Upon weekly review, they are shown how their week progressed and, through machine learning offered insights on patterns of behaviour they may not be aware of.
I designed the MVP for the team at Tank, which was awarded the Innovation NSW MVP Grant in late 2022.
I also created the brand’s logo, accompanying image library and website concept page.
Boxstax is a startup that my co-founder, Sophie Ellis, and I founded in 2022.
Powered by AI, Boxstax will calculate the best possible box for your distribution needs based on your unique packaging dimensions, volume and weight. This eliminates wasted space and unnecessary shipping fees.
It is a brand and concept that I have had the opportunity to build from the ground up. Heavily influenced by the shipping/logistics industry that it will serve, the logo is designed to create a presence.
The conceptual MVP screens shown here were awarded the Innovation NSW MVP grant in late 2022 and will be developed into a functioning app in early 2023.
Axi is an award-winning online trading broker. Their mission is to help customers achieve their ambitions through the sometimes complex financial markets.
I was engaged to create the company’s first native app which combines the functional trading aspect of Axi’s service along with their cutting-edge, AI-driven trade analytics platform.
Customer feedback was an essential part of this project as the new app would service a new customer. Millennials. Ongoing rounds of user testing/design sprints with Axi’s target customer were conducted to reduce assumptions and cater experiences around a group who had little to no experience in the world of trading.
The focus was the simplification of data visualisation and complex language often associated with trading apps, priortising contextual prompts and education in order to deliver support at critical moments within their trading journey.
The end result was an intuitive experience aimed at giving these young traders the tools they need to succeed.
I also provided Axi with contextual designs for their professional trader portal, Axi Trader.
Kickstand is the digital design agency that myself and business partner Sophie Ellis founded in 2018. We provide customer research, user experience and design services to clients of all sizes.
It was my task to design our entire brand from scratch from logos to business cards website and copywriting. This was probably one of the most challenging design briefs I have ever had!
I wrote a blog post about this experience on the Kickstand website.
Solar Analytics is a green tech startup who deliver real-time solar monitoring and data driven insights to residential solar owners via the Solar Analytics Dashboard.
Upon joining the company in 2015, I was tasked with redesigning the dashboard from the ground up.
The process began by gathering feedback from both internal stakeholders and the limited customer base that had been established at that time.
One of the greatest challenges of this project was to visually transform an enormous amount of highly technical and detailed data into a form that was digestible and useful to a regular home user.
While small, the customer base was vocal! Through an iterative and customer centric design process, (working with a gun development team) I was able to craft a new product which has received great feedback from our customers.
I truly believe the usability and visual design of the Solar Analytics Dashboard helped contribute to the 10x growth the business saw each year, over the 2 years following launch.
I was engaged by Blackmill for a website redesign to better portray their visual representation as well as the evolving nature of their service offering.
As encapsulating your brand can be a daunting task, I began with workshops to establish a new design direction. Taking into account the company values along with inspiration from deconstructivist art, we sought to design a website that truly represented what Blackmill stands for.
I refined the information architecture and page structures by applying best practice UX principles and, working with the team, improved the clarity of their existing message.
Then, through illustration, video and interaction design we finalised the creation of a “lightened” version of the website showcasing the unique credibility and authenticity that Blackmill brings to this consulting space.
Keywell is an app designed to support parents to stay in tune with how small and big changes impact their child’s behaviour. The app logs and identifies triggers and patterns of challenging behaviour, often in neurodivergent children.
I was engaged by Keywell’s founder right at the beginning of the startup’s journey and tasked with creating branding and an MVP for the purpose of acquiring further funding.
During the project, we were mindful that this product will interact with users during what might be a stressful time in their lives and aimed for a sense of calm and simplicity both in function and presentation.
We began with progressive onboarding to guide the user step-by-step into both the functions of the app and the data required to power it. We then deliver insights in simple, non-judgemental terminology supported with clear and clickable data visualisation.
I also created branding and a website concept to allow Keywell’s founder to build out her brand assets while conducting further fundraising.
Tank is an anti-burnout app designed to help users reclaim time to rest, recover and better themselves.
The team at Tank was starting out with a new brand and the design of their MVP app - a safe place where users can carve out time for themselves and the logo I created aimed to evoke that feeling of structure or sense of place.
The bespoke typography I created for the logo drew upon the motif of basic shapes: circle, square, triangle, arch which were used throughout the accompanying imagery and website concept designs.
I kept colours muted and calm so as not to overwhelm Tanks customers as we were mindful that users of this app may already feel stressed. Upon testing, the logo was well received by customers we spoke to.
Solar Analytics is a green tech startup established in 2013. The company uses a hardware monitoring device coupled with patented algorithms to craft a comprehensive and insightful solar monitoring solution for residential solar customers.
The output of this monitoring can be accessed by consumers via the Solar Analytics Dashboard.
Upon starting work as Art Director in 2015, my first task was to redesign the Solar Analytics branding.
After consulting with the team is was clear that the material did not reflect the highly sophisticated nature of the organisation.
The intention behind the redesign was to showcase the elegant simplicity of the Solar Analytics signature product.
The branding project extended beyond the standard logo, document templates and stationery and into hardware design, packaging, clothing, copy writing and office fit out.
Solar Analytics is a registered B-Corp and as such all resources utilised must adhere to the highest ethical standards. For example, recyclable materials and ethically sourced textiles.
My role also extending into providing a framework for workshopping company values.
The Voice of Australia was an interactive, fully responsive app created for the 2013 Federal Election. The app showcased highly detailed information on every candidate and electorate in Australia as well as comprehensive analysis on socioeconomic statistics provided by the News Corp Data API.
We also created a live sentiment tracker using twitter to gauge the public mood in the lead up to election day.
I was responsible for all aspects of the visual design of Voice of Australia from the logo, iconography, infographics, responsive layouts and even print promotional material.
The app featured across all major News Corp Metro Mastheads.
Harper HQ is the Entertainment Distribution Service for Harper Collins Publishers, Australia.
I was approached by them to create a new logo and B to B website to assist their sales team. This was a first for the company who had previously relied largely on print material to close sales to book stores around the country.
The new site allowed clients to log in, search titles, browse current promotions, place orders and track payments/invoicing.
The logo was designed to pay homage to the Harper Collins brand heritage while creating a more modern feel for this division.
